Fried Porridge~~

Serdang, is a small town in Kedah. Sin Aik Kee, is an old restaurant which is famous for their specialty ‘char moay’ (fried porridge) and plenty of other varieties. This restaurant is quite new to many people although it has been around for more than a decade. I personally think it is inexpensive and worth the trip. It is probably advisable to make a booking before you travel all the way to this restaurant.

Fried porridge here is a semi-liquid rich in flavours and ingredients "soupy" rice. It's concentrated and is not as watery as how a porridge normally would be (regardless of Cantonese/Teochew's porridge). Therefore, theoretically, I think it is alright to call it a fried porridge since the fluid content of the porridge had already been reduced during the process of cooking.

Satay Celup!!~~~

Ban Lee Hiang “万里香” is a shop selling “Satay Celup” in Malacca. It is situated towards the end of Ong Kim Wee road. This eatery is known as one of the famous restaurants for serving Satay Celup. Definitely not to be missed if you’re visiting! Well, satay celup is actually a dish where raw or semi-cooked food like seafood, meat and vegetables on skewers are dunked into a boiling pot of diluted satay sauce. Imagine having steamboat with the soup substituted with satay sauce.

The concept of Satay Celup could be attributed to being a combination of lok lok and buffet steamboat. With a tray provided by the restaurant, customers would proceed to the huge refrigerators housing the large selection of food on skewers, pick their choices and start dipping away. Be prepared to wait on weekends and public holidays, because business is really that good.

the gurgling pot of satay gravy used for cooking the food on the stick is consistently good.... tasty, as with the right amount of spiciness and a good balance of peanutty flavour....

a vast selection of food items skewered with bamboo sticks to choose from the fridge. Each stick costs only 50cents or 60 cents so be careful of getting carried away...haha

fried wantans, fried beancurd skins sandwiched with fish paste, water convulvus (kangkung) formed into balls, and fishballs....

While different shops serves different types of food on sticks ranging from raw pork and poultry to expensive seafood, they almost always serve the same meat balls, fish cakes, meatballs and sausages, as well as Taiwan sausages....

Dip..Dip!..dip!!...
